My take on corsets did a full 180 after sewing for a period play

I always thought corsets were just for historical dramas. Helping with a theater project showed me how they improve garment shape and support. This led me to try new materials like flexible boning. Now those ideas help in designing comfortable, structured everyday clothes.

My theater costume days totally changed how I sew now. I had to reinforce a bunch of flannel shirts for a show and used corset techniques on the inside seams. It kept them from stretching out weirdly on stage. That trick is now my go-to for making loose linen shirts actually hold their shape without being stiff.

Did you see that thing about using suit tricks in everyday clothes? I heard some tailors put stiff bits in linen to stop it going limp. Your method seems smarter, though.
