My friend Carl let his cousin borrow a hoof knife for a garden project. It came back chipped and rusty because they used it to cut roots. Now he has a strict no-lend policy for any tool from his kit.

Yikes, that's rough but honestly it's not about lending. People just don't get that hoof knives are made for one thing. They see a tool and don't get how specific it is.
