Finally tried parking my truck backwards at the loading dock

For years I'd pull in forward because it felt faster, but backing out blind into alley traffic was always a gamble. Last week I forced myself to back in at a cramped site near downtown Austin, and it saved me like 5 minutes of maneuvering. The mirrors just make more sense when you can see where you're going on the way out. Anyone else have a simple habit change that actually stuck for you?

Thought backing in was pointless extra work. Then I tried it once and realized I was the fool for years. Now I back into every loading dock spot I can find.

I mean, is scraping a mirror really that big of a deal though?

Four out of five times I've seen someone not back in, they end up stuck doing a 20-point turn later anyway. It's like people forget that pulling out is way harder than backing in when you're blind. I had a buddy who swore it was faster to nose in, then watched him scrape a mirror trying to leave. Now he backs in everywhere too. Funny how that hits you after the first time you actually try it.
