That half hour I wasted trying to open a pickle jar with hot water until my neighbor showed me the rubber band trick
I spent 30 minutes running the lid under hot water and even using pliers, then my neighbor from across the hall came over and wrapped a rubber band around the lid and it popped open in one twist - has anyone else found a random kitchen hack that ended up way simpler than what you were doing?

Watched my dad try to open a jar of salsa for ten minutes with a butter knife and a towel. I walked in, gave the lid a quick smack on the counter, and it twisted right off. He was not amused.

Gotta be careful smacking jars on the counter though, if the glass has any tiny cracks it can shatter everywhere. Idk if that's actually a thing, but I've had it happen to me once.
