Rant: I used to think composting was too much work until I visited my aunt's farm in Ohio

Last fall I drove out to see my aunt near Toledo, and she's got this huge compost pile that's been going for like 10 years. I always thought it was just a smelly hassle for hippies, you know? But she showed me how she just dumps kitchen scraps and leaves in a bin, turns it once a week, and gets free dirt for her whole garden. She hasn't bought soil in 6 years. Then she handed me a tomato from her garden that tasted like candy. I started my own bin 3 months ago with a $30 tumbler from Home Depot, and I'm already using the compost on my houseplants. Anyone else have a moment where seeing something in person changed your mind about a daily fix you thought was nonsense?

Honestly the part about "tasted like candy" got me because I tried my aunt's compost tomatoes and they ruined store bought ones for me forever. Now I'm that person who brings a jar of my own compost dirt to friends' houses like it's some kind of proud achievement. Ngl it's a little embarrassing how excited I get over what is basically fancy garbage.
