Spent 14 hours on a door lock that should have taken two

Got a call for a stuck car door on a 90s Otis hydraulic lift. The lock was binding, but the real issue was a bent guide rail bracket hidden behind the header. You could not see it without pulling the whole door frame. Took me 14 hours over two days to find and fix it, when a simple lock swap should have been a two-hour job. Anyone else had a simple call turn into a major headache because of one hidden part?

How do you even bend a guide rail bracket?

The worst part is the customer probably thought you were just milking the clock. Those hidden failures are a special kind of hell.

Ever find the real problem hiding behind the easy fix?
