PSA: An inspector called me out on my hoistway door gap check method

Last month in Kansas City, a state inspector watched me check a door gap with just a feeler gauge. He said, "You're only getting the center. The top and bottom can be way off." I started using three points on every door now, top, middle, and bottom. Found a 3/32" difference on a job yesterday that I would have missed. Anyone else have a better trick for catching uneven gaps fast?

Reminds me of a guy who used a laser level for that, but honestly your three-point check sounds faster.

Yeah, I'm the kind of person who would buy the laser level, use it once, and then spend twenty minutes looking for the charger. My methods are born from pure laziness, not genius. If it takes more than two tools, I'm already looking for a shortcut.

Totally agree, @cooper.luna's method is the move.
