Is cold solder really always the problem or do we blame it too much?
Had a guy bring in a TV last month with a power issue, I started checking caps and cold joints right away, but he stopped me and said 'have you even looked at the fuse yet?' - made me wonder, are we too quick to assume the hardest fix when the simple one is right in front of us?

Why is that? Sounds like you're making excuses for skipping the basics.

Last month I spent an hour chasing a cold joint on a stereo that just needed a new power cord.
