A guy told me I was 'just a parts swapper' in front of a customer last month
I was replacing a bad capacitor on a 10 year old Samsung fridge at a house in Oak Park. The customer's brother was watching me and said 'anyone can swap parts, you're not really fixing anything'. I told him diagnosing a dead start relay takes more than luck. But it got me thinking, where's the line between replacing parts and actually repairing? Is finding the root cause enough, or do you have to rebuild components to call it real repair?
