Dredged the same 2 miles of creek for 8 years, the bottom changed completely after one big rain

Back in March we had that 6 inch downpour up near the Johnson Creek headwaters, and I figured the usual silt would pile up like always. But when I got the cutterhead running the next week, the material felt different, more gravel than mud, and the draft dropped by nearly a foot in spots I'd been fighting for years. The flood must have scoured out all that packed clay that was building up since 2016, and now the channel holds its depth twice as long between passes. Has anyone else seen a single storm event reset a stretch of riverbed that fast, or was this just a lucky one-off?

Wait, so you're telling me one storm can undo eight years of buildup? That actually makes sense now, I always figured slow change was the only way but that flood probably just blasted everything loose and let the current do the rest. I was wrong about thinking big rains only make things worse, guess it depends on the bottom and the flow.
