Why I work through lunch to keep my drafting momentum
Honestly, all the talk about stepping away from the screen hurts my focus on tight deadlines. Tbh, a big coffee and some good music get me through a full set of plans without losing my place.
My drafting would be a lot of broken lines if I stopped for lunch. I get in a zone and forget to eat until my stomach sounds like a truck engine turning over. Once spent three hours mapping a client’s entire new house layout only to realize I’d been drinking cold coffee for who knows how long. The desk was a mess but the floor plan was perfect.
Last week I sketched out a whole garden design only to realize I'd been nibbling on the same cracker for two hours. My dog finally barked at me for sharing my "lunch" with him.
Relate to zoning out so hard you forget basic human needs. My record is drafting a patio layout while my phone died and my cat started chewing on my pencil for attention. Guess we all trade meals for moments of perfect work sometimes.
