The drafting table at that job fair in Columbus fixed my layer setup

Back in March I went to a local job fair for construction trades in Columbus. This older guy from a structural firm looked at my sample drawing and said my detail layers were a mess, too many on one sheet. He showed me his setup on a napkin, grouping by trade and phase instead of what I thought looked neat. I tried it on the next job, a small warehouse remodel, and my revision time dropped by half. Anybody else get hit with a simple tip that made their old files feel embarrassing?
