PSA: I tried two ways to set up my drawing templates and one saved me hours
For a big project last month, I needed to set up a bunch of drawing sheets with the same title block and border. I used to just copy an old drawing file and delete the old geometry, which always took forever and sometimes left hidden layers. This time, I made a clean template file from scratch with all the layers, text styles, and a blank title block already set. The difference was huge. Using the template, starting a new drawing took about 30 seconds instead of 5 minutes of cleaning up. It also meant every new sheet was consistent, with no random leftover bits from the old project. I made the template in about an hour one afternoon and it's already paid off. What's your go-to method for keeping new drawings clean from the start?

Actually setting up a template library was a game changer for our whole team. We keep a shared folder with approved templates for different project types, so everyone starts from the same clean slate. It kills the inconsistency problem before it even starts.

Oh man, that's such a smart move. I was just reading about how a design team cut their meeting time in half by doing exactly that. They had one master template for client pitches, another for internal reports, and it stopped all those last-minute formatting arguments. Everyone just grabs the right file and fills in their part. It sounds so simple but it really does save a ton of headaches.

Totally agree, making a clean template is the only way to go. We even set up a few with different title blocks for different clients. That way you just pick the client folder, open the right template, and you're already using their logo and project number format. It stops so many little errors before they happen.
