A field inspector in Boise made me rethink my pipe layer callouts
Last week I was on a commercial job in Boise checking my structural drawings against the actual slab penetrations. The field inspector, a guy named Hank who's been doing this since the 80s, pointed at my PVC callout and said "son, that schedule says schedule 40 but you got a schedule 80 fitting right there." I had copied that detail from an old template I always use, never thought to check if it matched the local code. He pulled out his phone and showed me the city amendment that requires heavier wall thickness in any buried section under a parking lot. That one sentence made me realize I've been leaning too hard on my saved blocks and not enough on the jurisdiction specs. Now I'm going through my last 6 projects to see where else I might have missed a local tweak. Has anyone else had a code or inspector callout that exposed a habit you thought was solid?
