That $40 dash cam I bought on a whim saved me $800 last month
I was skeptical about spending forty bucks on a dash cam, but my buddy talked me into it. Some guy sideswiped my car in a parking lot and tried to say I hit him. I pulled the footage and showed it to his insurance, and they paid for everything. Has anyone else had a cheap gadget pay off way more than it cost?

Funny how nobody talks about the peace of mind part. Makes parking anywhere a lot less stressful knowing you've got proof if something goes sideways.

actually saw a consumer reports article recently that said dash cams pay for themselves like 3 times over on average. sounds about right, pulling that footage must have felt amazing.

Are you sure that math checks out though? I've seen plenty of cheaper cams hold up fine, and unless you're getting into accidents left and right it's hard to see the payback.
