Stubborn cabinet hinge had me fighting for 3 hours
I grabbed a replacement hinge for a bathroom vanity in Columbus and thought it was a 20 minute swap. Turns out the old screws were stripped, the new hinge sat 2 millimeters off, and the door kept scraping the frame no matter how I adjusted it. After 3 hours of fiddling with shims and a file, I finally got it to close smooth. Is it just me, or do simple hardware fixes always balloon into half-day projects once you touch them? Has anyone else had a supposedly easy fix eat their whole afternoon?

Ugh, three hours for a hinge is brutal. I swear the universe punishes you the second you say "quick fix" out loud. Stripped screws are the absolute worst, I always end up with a drill bit snapped off in there too. Then suddenly you're not fixing a hinge, you're rebuilding the whole cabinet door. Honestly, I think the 20 minute job is a myth at this point.
