I used to print out directions before every road trip, now I just stare at my phone and hope
Back in like 2008 I had a whole routine before driving from Cleveland to visit my parents in Erie, printing out 4 pages of MapQuest directions and highlighting the turns with a yellow marker. Last weekend my phone died about 20 minutes into that same drive and I realized I had zero clue how to get there without it, which was honestly a little scary. Does anyone else feel like they traded real map skills for a phone that can just quit on them at the worst time?
My buddy had the same thing happen driving down to Columbus for a wedding and his GPS took him to the wrong side of town when the signal dropped. He ended up stopping at a gas station and buying one of those paper maps from behind the counter, felt like a total dinosaur. Having a paper backup in the glove box is cheap insurance, even if you never touch it.
