Can we please check our smoke detector batteries when we change the clocks, not when the thing starts chirping at 3am
So last Wednesday around 3am my smoke detector started doing that loud chirp every 40 seconds and scared my dog so bad she knocked over a lamp. I spent 20 minutes half asleep on a step stool trying to figure out which unit was beeping, turns out it was the one in the hallway, and I had no 9 volt batteries in the house. Had to drive to the 24 hour gas station on Route 9 at 3:40am and pay $8 for a two pack that normally costs $4. The old battery in there was dated 2019, which means I have been ignoring that thing for over 4 years. Does anyone else just wait for the chirp instead of swapping them on a schedule, or am I the last person on earth doing this?
