Tried Romex staples vs. plastic clips for a basement rewire in Omaha last week
Honestly, I've used staples my whole life but for this 60 amp circuit I ran I gave those zip-tie style clips a shot. The clips held the wire way better against the joists and I didn't have to worry about nicking the sheathing. Has anyone else switched over to clips for bigger gauge wire?

Did you notice any difference in how much the clips squeak or shift when the house settles? lol I used those plastic clips on a rewire in my buddy's 1950s ranch last fall, and man, after a few freeze-thaw cycles I swear I heard them creaking every time I walked over that part of the basement. The staples never made a peep in my own place even with 10 gauge runs. I dunno, maybe it's just my paranoia but I stuck with staples for the rest of the job, those clips felt too plastic-y for my liking.

Wait, are you telling me those plastic clips have a secret life as a creaky floor soundtrack? lol I'd lose my mind if every time I walked through the basement it sounded like a haunted house soundtrack. I swear, staples are the quiet kid who never causes trouble, while those clips are the loudmouth who shows up to the party uninvited and won't shut up.

Oh man, you just reminded me how in my old house the plastic clips would pop loose when the humidity changed in the spring. Staples have never given me that headache, so I just stick with what works.
