TIL my 'simple' bathroom tile job needed a full day just for layout
I started putting up subway tile in my small bathroom, thinking I'd be done in an afternoon. I spent over 8 hours just measuring, marking lines, and dry-fitting pieces to avoid tiny slivers at the edges and keep the pattern centered. My wife kept asking if I was ever going to actually stick any tile to the wall. Has anyone else had a small project blow up because the planning took forever?

Oh man, tell me about it. I spent a whole weekend just laying out a herringbone floor in a closet. Cutting all those angles to fit right... my back was killing me before I even mixed the thinset.

Yeah herringbone is no joke, @anderson.jason. Read somewhere that pros always dry lay the whole pattern first for that exact reason. All those cuts sound brutal.
