Swapped my corded drill for a 12v after 8 years, no regrets

I always figured corded meant more power for drywall and deck work, so my old 8 amp beast lived on a shelf with an extension cord permanently attached. Then I borrowed my neighbor's compact 12v for a quick shelf install in a closet and realized it handled 90% of my jobs without the tangle. Anyone else ditch the cord for smaller projects and find the trade-off worth it on battery life?

My old corded drill finally died when the chuck seized up after I dropped it off a step ladder, so I grabbed one of those cheap 12v kits on sale just to get through a weekend. Spent the first hour drilling holes in scrap wood just to see if it could keep up, and it did fine until the battery hit 20 percent. Now I keep a spare battery in my glovebox for no real reason, mostly because I like the backup plan even though I only use it twice a month.
