Rented a $900 tile saw and my cheap one still won

Last weekend I finally rented a big wet saw from Home Depot in Columbus to cut 12x24 porcelain for my laundry room floor. Thought it would be night and day compared to my $140 used saw from Craigslist, but honestly after about an hour I was missing my old setup. The rental had a laser guide and a sliding table, but the water spray kept throwing slurry on my chalk lines and the motor felt way too aggressive for the thin stuff. My cheap saw is slower and the cut marks need a little cleanup, but I know exactly how it handles and I can feel the blade bite. Ended up finishing the whole room with my own saw and took the rental back a day early, saved myself 60 bucks. Has anyone else dropped money on pro gear and found their junk drawer tool was actually the right call?

Well, that sounds about right for me too, I spent $80 on a fancy level and still end up eyeballing the bubble on my old one. My junk drawer basically has a PhD in winning arguments against my better judgment.
