My kitchen counter replacement took 2 tries and 80 bucks in mistakes
Last month I swapped out my old laminate counters for butcher block from a hardware store in Denver. First attempt I cut the sink hole too small and had to buy a whole new slab for $60. Second go I used a template from YouTube and got it perfect in one try. Has anyone else messed up a counter cut and had to eat the cost?

And it's funny how that pattern of "measure twice cut once" applies to so many things in life, not just countertops (like when I tried to build a deck and got the whole frame wrong the first time). You'd think after my third time screwing up a picture frame measurement I'd learn to slow down, but nope, I still rush through stuff. That's the thing about home projects, they teach you humility in the most expensive way possible.

Can't believe you built a whole deck frame wrong and didn't just scrap it and start over. I did that with a shed once, got the whole foundation off by like six inches on one side. Ended up just trimming the walls to fit and telling myself it was "custom." Still bugs me every time I walk past it.
