Had to rip out my bathroom vanity because the shutoff valve was stuck, here's the trick that saved me
So my bathroom faucet started dripping last Saturday and when I went to shut off the water under the sink, the valve handle just spun and wouldn't stop anything. I tried WD-40 and tapping it with a wrench for like an hour with no luck. What finally worked was holding the body of the valve with one pair of channel locks while slowly turning the handle with another, took about 10 minutes of gentle back and forth and it finally seated and shut the water off. Saved me from cutting into the wall and sweating a new valve on a Sunday. Has anyone else dealt with a stuck gate valve like this, did I just get lucky or is this a real fix?
