Finally got that old bathroom fan to stop rattling after a whole weekend

The mounting bracket was bent just enough to hit the housing, and I spent Saturday and Sunday trying to figure it out. Anyone have a trick for diagnosing weird noises like that?

Funny how the smallest thing can cause the biggest headache. That bent bracket is a perfect example. It feels like half of home repair is just tracking down those tiny, hidden problems. The noise gives you a clue, but the real cause is always something you don't expect. Makes you appreciate when you finally find the simple fix after all that looking.

Yeah, I read this article about how a lot of weird car vibrations are just from a single worn out bushing or a loose heat shield... something that costs ten bucks but takes three hours to find. It's always buried under everything else. My buddy had a rattle in his house for months, turned out to be a single screw on a ceiling fan blade that had worked itself loose. Drove him crazy until he finally spotted it.

Wait, a single screw on a ceiling fan caused months of noise? That's wild. I mean, you'd think it would be something huge and expensive. It's crazy how something so cheap and tiny can just ruin your peace of mind for so long. Makes me want to go check all the screws in my apartment now, idk.
