TIL the guy at the Rockford ReStore talked me out of buying a $15 cabinet door
I went in for a door to patch a hole in my kitchen, and he pointed out mine is a 1950s overlay so the hinge holes would never line up anyway. He handed me a scrap of 1/2 inch ply and said just cut a panel and paint it, took me 20 minutes and $3. Now I always measure hinge spacing before I grab salvage, has anyone else gotten saved from a bad buy by a random employee?
Gotta disagree on this one, sometimes the gamble pays off. Grabbed a $10 door last year with hinges I figured I could redrill, and it fit the first try. The ReStore folks mean well but they don't always know your setup, so I'd rather measure twice and decide myself.
