Talked to my neighbor about his 30 year old drill last weekend

He told me he's never had to replace a single part on his old Makita, and it made me rethink all those cordless sets I've swapped out every 4 years. Been looking at brushed motors differently since then, anyone else hold onto old tools longer than they should?

Swapping a cordless every 4 years is basically a subscription service for drills.

Hold on, you're saying 4 years? That's wild to me. I've got a 12 year old Makita that still runs like new. I only swapped the batteries once because I left one in a cold truck and it just gave up.
