I used to think corded drills were obsolete until I tried to build a deck with my cordless one
Spent all Saturday with my 18V drill and went through 3 batteries just on the joist hangers. Borrowed a neighbor's corded DeWalt and it never slowed down, even through the pressure treated lumber. Anyone else keep a corded drill around just for framing?

My old 15 amp corded Milwaukee never bogs down no matter what I throw at it. Cordless is great for quick stuff but when you need real torque you just can't beat a corded drill. You keep that deck framing drill for a reason.

Deck framing is mostly about speed and burst power, not constant torque through thick material. A corded drill wins on long, continuous heavy work like mixing mortar or spade bits in wet lumber. But that 15 amp rating is peak draw, not what it puts out at the chuck all day. Your cordless has a clutch and can handle 95% of what a deck throws at it. The real reason you keep the corded one is battery life and weight, not pure muscle.
