Warning: I compared my 2019 data report to the one I got today and it is scary
I pulled up a privacy report from a data broker I used for work back in 2019 and then the free one they sent me today, and the difference is wild. In 2019 the file on me was about 40 pages. Today it is over 300 pages, and it has stuff I never told anyone, like my sleep schedule, the exact route I jog near my apartment in Denver, and a list of stores I walked past but did not even go into. I think the cause is all the location sharing I turned on for deals and discounts over the years, plus every app that asked for background access and I just tapped allow. What really got me was a section labeled "life events" that guessed when I moved and when I changed jobs, and it was close enough to be creepy. I am not saying delete everything, but go check what background permissions you gave out in the past two years. Has anyone found a way to actually get this stuff removed, or does paying for removal just put you on another list?
My sleep schedule alone is probably a 200 page novel of me falling asleep at 2am watching cooking videos. That "life events" section guessing your job change is the part that would get me too, 300 pages is a lot of guessing. I turned off background location on like 12 apps last month and my phone battery magically got better, so at least there's that.
