TIL the free coffee shop wifi on 5th Street runs a device tracker, and I only found out from a regular
I used to hop on any open network to save data, until a guy at the counter showed me the router page listing every phone that had ever connected, mine included, going back 2 months. That spot has maybe 30 regulars, so there was my name and device ID sitting in a list anyone on staff could pull up. I bought a $40 travel router the next day and now I cloak my MAC address everywhere I go. Anyone else run into a place doing this, or am I late to the party?
