I shrugged off a VPN as paranoia until my bank called about a $700 charge from 2 states away
For a couple years I figured paying for a VPN was just something tech people push on everyone, and I only grabbed one when a friend kept bugging me about using cafe wifi. Last week my bank froze my card over a $700 charge in a city I have never set foot in, and it turns out it came from a hotel network I had used while traveling. So where do you all land, is a paid VPN just a scare tactic, or is it really worth the $5 a month?
