Pro tip: Switching to a local SIM in Bangkok cut my internet costs by 80%

After 3 months of paying $50 a month for international roaming, I swapped to a Thai AIS SIM for $10 and now I get faster 5G speeds at every cafe I work from, has anyone else found a huge price difference using local carriers in SEA?

Why does anyone still pay for international roaming? I switched to a local SIM in Vietnam and saved a ton too. Local carriers always give you better speeds for way less money.

Had a buddy pay $120 for three days of Verizon's TravelPass in Japan when a local data SIM at the airport was like $15 for two weeks. Like, come on. You can get a prepaid SIM at 7-Eleven in like ten minutes. Is the convenience really worth that kind of scratch?
