My tiny kitchen in Medellin is making me choose between cooking and exploring

Living here, I have barely any space to cook, so I eat out a lot. But part of me wants to learn local recipes and save money by making food at home. Do you adapt your eating habits based on your lodging?

Yeah, totally get that. I'd split the difference, honestly. Eat out for the complicated local stuff you wanna try, but keep a few basic things you can cook in one pan. Like, you can make a ton of rice and beans in a small pot, and that's a cheap base for meals. Grab some fresh stuff from a market to throw on top. That way you're still saving cash and learning a bit, but not missing out on the food scene. It's all about not making it an all or nothing thing.

Solid advice, @scott.william. In Bangkok, I kept a small pot for rice and eggs in my room. Ate out for the good stuff like boat noodles and mango sticky rice. That mix meant I could stay for months without going broke. Learned to cook a few local basics too, which was half the fun.

Isn't the local food why you travel?
