Got roasted by a client for my coworking space background noise
I was on a zoom call with a client in Berlin last month and they kept asking me to repeat myself. Finally they stopped and said 'look, I can hear every coffee grinder and phone conversation in that place, it sounds like you're in a train station.' I was embarrassed honestly because I thought my noise canceling headset was handling it. Switched to a library style coworking space in Medellin the next week with private booths and it's been night and day different. The internet is actually faster too since there's less traffic on the network from video calls all day. I still miss the social buzz of the open layout sometimes but my project deadlines are way easier to hit now. Has anyone else had a client call them out on their setup like that?

Dakota_taylor39 nailed it. I had a guy clipping his toenails near me once.

At least you didn't have someone's parrot squawking in the background during a contract negotiation like I did last year. Those open coworking spaces are a gamble - sometimes you get a productive hum, other times you get a guy on a sales call yelling into his laptop three feet away. I switched to a library membership myself after my neighbor started practicing his guitar during what he thought was my lunch break. Now I just miss the free coffee and the occasional dog that would wander over for pets.
