Question about client reporting frequency for small agencies

I've been running a 5-person agency in Austin for about 2 years now. I notice a lot of agencies push weekly reports to clients even when nothing changed that week. We switched to bi-weekly reports after getting feedback from our top 3 clients and our retention went up 40% in 6 months. Has anyone else found that less frequent reporting works better for certain client types?

Did you notice that the bi-weekly shift worked better with clients who had been around for a while versus brand new ones? In my experience, newer clients need more hand holding and reassurance early on, so cutting back too fast can backfire. I'm curious what kind of feedback you got from those top 3 clients that made you switch. Was it just about the volume of reports, or were they complaining about the content being too repetitive and shallow?

Totally agree @riverm48, newbies definitely need that weekly pace early on.

Lol @riverm48 coming in with the real questions. I feel like the content being repetitive is just part of the game sometimes, but yeah newbies definitely need that weekly handholding. The top clients probably just wanted something fresh without having to tell us they were bored.
