Client gave me feedback that killed my whole design approach

I was working on a landing page for a local dentist in Phoenix and kept cramming in all these features. The client told me straight up 'I don't care about 20 bullet points, just make the phone number huge.' I cut the page down to one headline, a picture, and their number in 72pt font. Their calls went up 40% in two weeks. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made you ditch everything you thought worked?

40% in two weeks off just making the font bigger? That's cool but I'd want to see if it holds up over a few months, sometimes people just notice the change at first.

Yeah "just make the phone number huge" is such brutally simple feedback but it really works.
