PSA: All-nighter to rescue my art from a last-minute crash

Honestly, I was finishing my digital piece for the big online showcase. Tbh, I had worked on it for like a month, getting every little detail just right. Ngl, when I went to export the final file, my art program totally froze and then closed. I had to dig through my backups, but the newest one was from three days ago. So I had to redo all those hours of shading and effects from memory. I stayed up until sunrise, barely keeping my eyes open. When I finally posted it, people actually praised the 'spontaneous' feel of the rushed parts. Now I just shake my head, but I guess sometimes chaos makes better art.

Ha, tell me you've never redone hours of work without telling me. "Just some shading" feels like a whole new project when you're doing it at 3 AM.

Was it really a rescue mission though? Plenty of art gets made under tight deadlines or with last-minute changes. Calling it a crash makes it sound like a disaster, but you just had to redo some shading from a few days back. Sounds more like a rough night that turned out fine, not some heroic save. The praise you got kinda proves it wasn't that big of a deal in the end.
