Pro tip: My first art showcase on DeviantArt bombed because I picked the wrong file format
I uploaded a 300 DPI PSD file to a showcase thread in 2022 and it took 45 seconds to load on most browsers - people just scrolled past. I switched to compressed PNGs at 72 DPI and got 3 times the comments within a week. Has anyone else run into loading time kills their exposure?

Man, I feel that. I ran into the same thing with a detailed illustration I posted. I was stubborn about keeping it at 300 DPI for a thread on Dribbble and nobody even clicked on it. Switched to 72 DPI JPEGs with sRGB color space and suddenly people were commenting on the actual art instead of waiting for it to load. Also learned the hard way that if your file is over 5MB on forums like this, people on mobile will just skip you. Keep your images under 2MB and you're good.

Right? Did you have to re-export a bunch or just start fresh with settings?
