Warning: watched a guy strip a drain plug on a combine in Ames last fall and it changed how I break every bolt loose now | Diesel Mechanics - Opinions Matter
I mean this is basically the same lesson as "measure twice cut once" but nobody wants to hear it because it sounds like something your dad would say. Watching somebody else eat it on a simple bolt is way cheaper than learning it yourself, that's why the screwup sticks with you so hard. Idk, maybe it's just me but I've noticed this pattern in everything now, like people rushing a turn at a stop sign or yanking a zipper because they're in a hurry, and it's always the small stuff that bites back the worst. The guy in Ames probably saved you a busted knuckle and a trip to the parts store just by being a cautionary tale. Slow hands are boring right up until the second they aren't.
