That old mechanic Bob told me I was torquing injectors wrong for 3 years
I had this older guy Bob stop by my bay last week while I was working on a Cummins ISX. He watched me tighten down the injector hold-downs and said 'you're going too fast, you gotta let the threads settle'. I always just zipped them down with the torque wrench in one smooth motion. Now I do it slow, let it sit for 10 seconds, then finish the turn. No more random leaks since then. Anyone else had a veteran call them out on something obvious?

That slow method makes a difference. Bob probably saved you from a bunch of comebacks on those leaks.

Totally agree. Ive seen so many people rush through finishing and end up with these fuzzy spots or burn through when they try to buff it out later. Taking that extra bit of time on each section just saves you from having to redo half the job. Bob probably saved them a headache and a half with that advice. Its one of those things that seems like a waste of time until you skip it and regret it.
