Shoutout to old timer Mike for saving me 3 hours
Last Tuesday I was fighting a bad injector on a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia. Mike came over and said try hitting the return line with some compressed air before pulling the whole rail. I thought he was crazy but figured why not. It cleared the chunk right out and had that truck running smooth in 20 minutes. Has anyone else had luck with that cleanup trick on common rail systems?

Wish I'd known that trick last month before I spent four hours tearing apart a Cummins ISX rail just to find a little piece of crud. Nothing like a good dose of old timer wisdom to make you feel like you've been working with your eyes closed.

Four hours, man. That's a solid chunk of a Saturday you're never getting back. I feel like half the battle with those ISX rails is just knowing where to look first before you start pulling everything apart. It's wild how a speck of dirt can turn a simple fix into a whole shop day. I bet that old timer just laughed and said something like "shoulda listened the first time, kid.
