I finally checked my torque wrench against a buddy's calibrator, and 3 years of head bolts were 15 ft-lbs light
I borrowed a calibrator from a guy at the shop in Reno last Tuesday for the heck of it, and my old clicker was off by 15 ft-lbs at 120, which means every head gasket job I did with it since 2022 was under-torqued. What tipped me off was a 5.9 Cummins comebacks, two on the same truck, and the second time I started wondering if it was my fault. Anyone else get their wrench checked on a schedule, or do you just run them till they feel funny?
