Found my grandad's diesel manual from the 70s

I was going through some boxes and found my grandad's diesel repair manual from the 70s. It's all paper with sketches, but now we use apps and scans. Does having digital info actually help us understand engines more?

Searching a digital manual is faster, but those old sketches forced you to trace the whole system. Might have been better for actually learning how things work.

Totally get that. Tracing stuff out really does make it stick in your brain better.

Yeah but "forced you to trace the whole system" sounds a bit intense lol. Like, sometimes you just need the answer fast so you can fix the thing and move on with your day. Not every repair needs to be a deep learning moment.
