Appreciation post: the guy who showed me why air brake slack adjusters should push, not pull
Last Tuesday a new kid at our yard in Reno kept arguing that you set slack adjusters by pulling them toward you until they stop, which is what his dad taught him on a farm truck. I showed him on a 2019 Pete that the proper check is a firm push stroke of less than an inch, and his face went white when he realized he had been cranking them the wrong way for two months. How many of you have had to undo someone else's "adjustment" that was basically just a guess?
