Warning: the leasing guy on Jefferson told me commercial trash pickup is 'basically free' and I almost signed
Found out from a DPW clerk that a 2 yard dumpster on my lot runs $310 a month plus a fuel fee that jumps every quarter, so I'm asking anyone here who runs a shop near downtown what you actually pay before I lock in a 3 year contract.
Learned this the hard way after thinking for years that commercial pickup was just a flat fee you could count on. That fuel fee is what killed me too, mine went from $18 to $41 in like 14 months and there was nothing I could do about it because of course the contract had a clause letting them bump it whenever. If you're near downtown definitely call around to the smaller independent haulers, not just the big names, because they were quoting me way less for the same size dumpster. Also ask what the overage charge is if you go past the pickups you paid for, one busy month on my old plan cost me $95 extra and nobody warned me. Locking in 3 years right now sounds like a trap, push for month to month or at least one year until you know your real volume.
