Vacuum broke mid-job yesterday and I wanted to throw the whole thing in the river

I was doing a deep clean for a regular client in Midtown Detroit yesterday, second floor of an old office building. Right as I'm finishing up the main hallway, my commercial vacuum just dies. No warning, no weird noise, just dead. I spent 20 minutes trying to find the issue on site, ended up having to finish the rest with a broom and dustpan like it's 1995. The client was cool about it but I lost like 40 minutes of time I had budgeted for their job, plus I gotta shell out for a repair now. Has anyone else had a major piece of equipment go out right in the middle of a paying gig?

My dyson gave up mid-shampoo cycle and I just sat on the floor staring at it for five minutes.

$450 commercial Hoover just quit on me last Tuesday halfway through a carpet extraction. I used to think those big box store consumer vacuums were fine if you just replaced them every year or two. Man was I wrong. After that Hoover died I had to finish a whole floor with a shop vac that barely had any suction left. Completely changed my mind about buying cheap equipment for professional work. Now I'm saving up for a real commercial machine even if it hurts the wallet.
