The sign at my Detroit loading dock says no idling over 5 minutes and drivers ignore it all day
Was waiting to unload off Michigan Ave last Tuesday and counted 8 trucks puffing away while the sign sat right there. Got me wondering if commercial properties here actually enforce that stuff or if it's just for looks. Anybody seen a Detroit spot that really cracks down on idle time?
I've been that guy puffing away at a dock on Joseph Campau while the sign stares at me, so I can't act too holy here. One time a lot guy came out and tapped my window, told me to kill it or pull around back, and I felt like a kid caught skipping class. From what I've seen, most Detroit spots don't really enforce it unless someone complains or the lot guy is bored. The ones that do crack down usually have a guard or cameras and they'll write you up or ban you. So yeah, a lot of those signs are basically wall art.
