Showerthought: I stopped guessing my dog's dinner portions by eye and the change in 3 weeks floored me
Three weeks ago I was just eyeballing my lab mix's kibble into his bowl every night, probably 3 cups when he only needed 2. I grabbed a $4 kitchen scale from the grocery store on a whim and started weighing it out to the exact gram the vet wrote down. By day 10 he stopped begging at the table, and by last Friday he'd dropped from 84 to 79 pounds at the checkup, which the vet said was the whole point. His energy went way up too, he's doing full laps in the yard again instead of flopping down after 5 minutes. The weird part is I almost skipped the scale because it felt like overkill for a dog bowl. So here's my question for you all, how many of you are still measuring pet food by eye, and did a cheap kitchen scale fix anything for you?
