Rant: I spent 3 months friending my neighbor's dog and now she won't leave my porch alone
My neighbor's dog, a 70 lb pit mix named Biscuit, used to bark her head off at me every time I walked to my truck. About 3 months ago I started tossing her a plain milk bone through the fence on my way out, thinking it would just calm her down. Two weeks in, she figured out my schedule better than I did. Now she's waiting at the fence by 6:45 every morning before I even grab my keys, and last Tuesday she dug a hole under the gate and parked herself on my porch for 4 hours while I was pouring concrete at a job in Garland. My neighbor thinks it's sweet, but I've got muddy paw prints on my welcome mat and a dog that stares through my kitchen window while I eat dinner. I tried cutting the treats cold, and she just sat there and howled for 20 minutes straight until I gave in. So now I'm the guy at the pet store buying milk bones in bulk, and my neighbor still hasn't fixed the gate hole. Has anyone else accidentally trained somebody else's pet into a full-time porch squatter, and how did you get out of it?
