Yoga was total nonsense to me until a knee injury at 34 changed my mind

I spent years calling it stretching for people who like incense, but after my ACL scare last March my PT had me doing basic poses and the difference in my knee pain was honestly night and day. So is it actually legit for everyone or just for people with specific injuries, and what made you flip on something you used to mock?

Ditch the hype about flexibility or whatever, the real flip for me was realizing yoga is basically just structured physical therapy with better branding. Everyone talks about the zen side, but nobody mentions how it forces you to actually map out your own body's weak points, like which hip is tight or where your balance is shot. After my shoulder thing, I started treating it like a diagnostic tool instead of a workout, and that changed everything. It's not magic for everyone, but if you've got any kind of asymmetry in how you move, it'll find it faster than any gym bro with a mirror. That's the part that got me, once I stopped seeing it as exercise and started seeing it as a cheat code for fixing broken movement patterns.
